In the second half of september 2020, our project partners began with the conduction of the quantitative survey in Mexico and Turkey. The mexican team from our partner institution Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla is led by Oscar Calderón. The turkish team from Türk-Alman Üniversitesi in Istanbul is led by Murat Erdogan and Nihal Eminoglu.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic it is not possible for our teams from Freie Universität Berlin and Ruhr-Universität Bochum to accompany the process on site, but we are in constant exchange about the progress in the field via digital means. Before starting to apply the questionnaire at different places along common migrant routes in Turkey and Mexico, a virtual training workshop was held with each the interviewers of the turkish and the mexican team to explain the design of the survey in detail.

The questionnaire covers the migrants' migration trajectories, experiences with violence, the current living situation and future plans. We also added a section about the experiences with the Covid-19 pandemic and its possible effects on the migrants' living situation and plans. During the interview, all team members are of course required to ensure that the current rules of hygiene are complied with, always having masks and disinfectants at hand.

Depending on the further development of the pandemic, we hope to have first data ready for analysis by the end of the year.
